What Happens After a Notice
When appropriate, the site may remove or disable access to material identified in a valid notice and may notify the user who submitted it. The site may request additional information when a notice is incomplete.
Counter-Notification
If your material was removed or disabled because of a copyright notice and you believe that happened because of mistake or misidentification, you may send the designated agent a written counter-notification consistent with 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3). It should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material removed or disabled and the location where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled because of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, plus the statutory statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate U.S. Federal District Court and accepting service of process from the person who submitted the original notice or that person's agent.
Because the jurisdiction statement depends on where the subscriber is located, a person submitting a counter-notice should review the current requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3) before sending it.
Repeat Infringers
In appropriate circumstances, the site may terminate accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. The site reserves the right to remove infringing material and take other reasonable action to protect intellectual-property rights.
Misrepresentations
Copyright notices and counter-notices are legal communications. Knowingly making material misrepresentations may have legal consequences. If you are uncertain whether material infringes your rights or whether an exception applies, consider obtaining legal advice before submitting a notice.
Other Rights
This process is intended for copyright complaints. Privacy, trademark, harassment, or other concerns should be directed to the site administrator through the appropriate contact method.
